At Safer Sphere, we are excited to embark on a new challenge – our Virtual Fundraising Mission! As part of our commitment to health, wellbeing, and supporting our charity partner, our team is taking on a 700-mile virtual journey, travelling from our southernmost project at Dorset County Hospital to our northernmost site at Valneva in Scotland, stopping at key Safer Sphere projects along the way.
What’s the Mission About?
Our team is tracking their movement and submitting it to our virtual mission map. Every step brings us closer to achieving our goal, with milestones at each of our project locations. This mission is about more than just covering miles—it’s about promoting well-being, staying active, and doing something meaningful as a team.
We’re proud to be raising awareness and funds for The PDA Society, our charity partner and a small organisation that make a real difference in the lives of PDA individuals and their caregivers. PDA, which stands for Pathological Demand Avoidance, refers to autistic individuals who experience a fear response when faced with demands. It goes beyond mere reluctance or refusal; it is the feeling of being unable to do things, even those they desperately want to do, if they perceive them as threatening their autonomy.
Research suggests that there could be 140,000 PDA individuals in the UK, but this condition remains largely unheard of!
Our goal is to raise £1,000 to support individuals and families affected by PDA.
How Does the Mission Work?
Our team logs their daily activity—whether it’s a casual walk, a swim, or even converting activities like gardening or baking into tracked movement using a conversion chart! Each mile counts and brings us closer to the finish line. We’re sharing regular updates on our staff portal to keep the momentum going and celebrate our milestones.
While we’re enjoying this challenge, we’re doing it in support of a meaningful cause. PDA affects many individuals, and by raising funds, we aim to make a real difference. Every donation helps us get closer to our goal of £1,000.
How You Can Support?
We invite you to support our efforts by contributing to this important cause. Every donation, no matter the size, will make an impact. Your support will motivate us to keep going and help us achieve our fundraising target!
