Safer Sphere is delighted to announce that we will continue to provide Health and Safety Consultancy services for the Grade I-listed John Rylands Research Institute and Library. This follows Manchester City Council’s recent approval of the £7.6 million transformation scheme, called ‘John Rylands Next Chapter’, which is a significant step towards preserving and enhancing this beloved Manchester landmark. We are thrilled to be a part of this project and to contribute to its success.
The approved scheme demonstrates a strong commitment to preserving the rich heritage of the building while also integrating modern advancements. The proposed designs by Donald Insall Associates will bring an updated exhibition space, an advanced imaging laboratory, a flexible event space, and a refreshed main entrance, paying tribute to the building’s evolution through the decades.
The John Rylands Research Institute and Library is a remarkable institution that showcases Manchester’s rich cultural heritage. It is home to a vast collection of rare books, manuscripts, and archives that are of immense value.
Safer Sphere is part of the project team, which includes Donald Insall Associates, Nissen Richards Studio, WML Consulting, Hoare Lea, Arcadis, and IDACS (UK) Ltd.
