We’re delighted to be renewing our charity partnership with the PDA Society.
PDA is a profile of autism where everyday demands and expectations can trigger an intense, anxiety-driven need for control. For PDA people, this can cause a genuine fear response. It is not simply a matter of being unwilling or oppositional; many people want to do certain things but feel unable to when demands threaten their sense of autonomy.
Research suggests there may be more than 140,000 PDA people in the UK, yet awareness and understanding remain limited. As a result, many individuals and families struggle to access the recognition, resources and support they need.
