Safer Sphere is providing Health, Safety & Wellbeing support for the North London Heat and Power Project (NLHPP) and following Suicide Prevention Day on the 10th of September – an annual awareness campaign.
This year it fell on a Saturday and so the week of awareness began on the Friday with a visit from guest speaker, Dr Nicola Funnel – a Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Director at South London and Maudsley Trust. The session was delivered as two talks, speaking to around 200 construction and office-based staff at the North London Heat and Power Project. Each session was well attended, and you can watch a recording of the day here: World Suicide Prevention Day 2022 – guest speaker Dr Nicola Funnel – YouTube.
There were posters around the EcoPark site with different themes for each day; Mindful Monday, Thoughtful Tuesday, Wellbeing Wednesday and Thriving Thursday. One day included a briefing led by project director Steve Pate of Taylor Woodrow called ‘Relying on Luck’.
“What a fantastic title. Over 180 were in attendance for the two sessions. Engaging with lots of engaging questions and some pretty frank talking. Safety shouldn’t be just relying on luck by luck. Don’t be afraid to stop your own and others’ work if there is a risk of harm. We only have one life!“
