Baking a Difference at Safer Sphere

Today, Safer Sphere’s office was filled with sweet treats as Kathy, one of our talented team members, hosted a bake sale in support of the PDA Society, our charity partner. The event brought our total fundraising amount up, and we’re pleased to share that we’ve now raised over £300 as we work towards our £1,000 fundraising goal by May 2025.

The “pay what you feel” approach encouraged contributions of all sizes, ensuring everyone could get involved. More importantly, it provided an opportunity to raise awareness for the PDA Society and the important work they do.

Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) is a profile on the autism spectrum. It describes individuals who experience an overwhelming fear response when faced with demands—whether external or self-imposed. This response can make it difficult to act, even in situations where they would like to comply, due to a perceived threat to their autonomy.

Despite research suggesting there may be over 140,000 individuals in the UK with PDA, it remains a lesser-known and misunderstood condition. The PDA Society plays a vital role in providing resources, raising awareness, and supporting individuals and families impacted by PDA.
