Earlier this week on a hot and sunny afternoon, Senior CDM/H&S consultant Chris Shaw, took a journey down to just outside Rotherham and visited one of the grandest stately homes in the UK. After a stroll around the stunning House & Gardens, some coffee, and a scone (with jam and clotted cream of course) he met the apprentices at the Hamish Ogston Foundation Summer School of Wentworth Woodhouse. Before delivering a presentation on the origins and importance of health and safety in construction, a group of Netflix producers asked to view the room and stood around discussing their plans for the next series of The Crown! As Wentworth Woodhouse is at beginning of an ambitious regeneration project, the apprentice trades ranged from stone masons and bricklayers to stain glass and mosaic restorers, at the end of the session they asked lots of interesting questions in regards to health and safety when working on heritage sites.
